The Gentleman’s Journal

Aside from bullet shrapnel being just inches from his heart, Tony Stark has a pretty good life. The (in his own words) genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist has realised every boy’s superhero dream and, best of all, built a kick-ass property portfolio in the process.

Between Stark Tower, the Point Dume mansion and the family manor, it would take a lot for Iron Man to get jealous when it comes to comparing property. We at TGJ, however, think we’ve found the 5 residences that could make the metal man turn just a little bit Hulk…

1. THE MOST EXPENSIVE MANSION IN BEVERLY HILLS

Purchased by Minecraft creator Marcus “Notch” Persson for $70million after he sold his company to Microsoft for $2.5billion, the 35-year-old beat the likes of Beyoncé and Jay-Z to the super-luxurious, 23,000-square-foot mansion.

Aside from all of the expensive furniture, fixtures and fittings, the home has a futuristic side with a range of built-in technology, with an automated 54ft curved glass door that opens onto an infinity pool with iPad-controlled fountains and some seriously spectacular views. You can also project the views from the roof onto three 90-inch HD televisions for panoramic views inside and out.

If the James Dean motorcycle replica and 18-foot onyx table haven’t sent Mr Stark into a spin, there’s also an entire room dedicated just to candy.

2) ANTILIA, MUMBAI

Estimated to be one of the world’s most expensive homes, Mukesh Ambani’s Antilia skyscraper is clearly no ordinary mega-home. Iron Man may have Stark Tower, but Ambani’s 27-storey, 400,000-square-foot residence is a worthy rival.

Named after the mythical island, among the floors are 6 underground parking levels, 3 helicopter pads and an entire floor dedicated to ‘health’. The residence requires a reported 600 staff and has been valued at around $1billion in the current market.

3) ONE HYDE PARK, THE WORLD’S MOST EXPENSIVE APARTMENT

London property prices are some of the priciest on the planet, and the penthouse at the luxury residence One Hyde Park is currently the world’s most expensive apartment at $237m. Prime location is a moniker of Stark’s real estate collection, but even his would struggle to match that of this duplex overlooking Hyde Park.

16,000-square-foot was never going to come cheap in the heart of London, but for the money you get: an ozone pool; entertainment suite; golf simulator; a spa; temperature controlled wine cellars; and, just in case, panic rooms and bullet proof glass – a feature probably more useful to Stark than the average billionaire.

4) MONACO’S ODÉON TOWER PENTHOUSE

The Odéon Tower in Monaco is yet to be completed, but the penthouse is already set to be one of the most expensive in the world, beating out the aforementioned One Hyde Park. Due to open this year, the residence atop the second-tallest building on the Med is a huge 35,500-square-foot and could set a prospective buyer back a cool $400m.

The five-floor residence has a show-stopping, enormous infinity pool with an incredible water slide, pictures of which went viral when first released, understandably. Being at the top of such a huge building evidently has its perks, and the 360° view of the Monaco coast is a rather impressive one.

5) THE ACTUAL PROPERTY THAT INSPIRED IRON MAN’S FICTIONAL HOME

Whilst Tony Stark’s Malibu mansion wasn’t real, sadly, the house that supposedly inspired the set design is just as impressive. The Razor Residence in San Diego is an architectural feat, with a modern exterior situated in a bluff cut out of a Californian mountain on the edge of the Torrey Pines State Park.

Designed by architect Wallace Cunningham, the impact of the location is totally maximised, with floor to ceiling windows for panoramic views of the ocean below, all the way around the house. The blend between modern design and the beautiful setting is seamless and incredible, and if for some reason you actually want to leave the 11,000-square-foot home, a private beach in the affluent La Jolla community comes attached.
